Erlinda Jarito emerged as an unexpected GTCC finalist
For many, playing Tongits on the GameZone app is more than just a pastime. The recent GameZone TableGame Champions Cup (GTCC): September Arena, now rebranded as the GameZone Tour Tongits Plus Championship Cup, proved exactly more than that, highlighted by a spirited run of finalist Erlinda Jarito, whose journey speaks more than a thousand words。
She was included in the top 36 finalists of the GTCC: September Arena last September 20 to 21. The two-day tournament brought out the best of the best as seasoned players challenged each other for the largest prize pool in Tongits。
The 46-year-old single mother from Valenzuela City lived a simple life driven by one goal: to provide for her family. On the GameZone app, she started by betting small amounts, limiting her bets to just 20 pesos each。
She played and reached the top ranks by using her knowledge and expertise of the game, earning her an invitation to watch the GameZone TableGame Champions Cup (GTCC): September Arena, held at the Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa。
A resounding example of when opportunity meets preparation, little did Erlinda know she would be chosen to play in the tournament. She came into the game as a substitute to complete as one of the top 36 finalists, and with the opportunity at hand, she brought her strategic mindset and swift decision-making, battling through long rounds of play before eventually reaching the finals。
Due to fatigue from playing long rounds, her performance in the tournament was ultimately affected。
Despite the challenge, she grabbed one of the three final spots and even took the lead in game one of the grand finals. She finished the tournament as 1st runner-up, trailing by only 500 points, and came home with PHP 1,000,000, which created new opportunities for her family's life。

In the aftermath of the event, with the heart and mind of a champion, Jarito shared her story of what happened months after the tournament. She shared her entire journey and how the prize money helped ease her mother's medical bills, who was in the hospital while she competed. She was able to buy a new phone and support the education of her child, the opportunity that was given to their family was a once-in-a-lifetime, and will forever be thankful to GameZone。
"Maglaro sila ng tama. Halimbawa kung malas sila ngayon, may bukas pa, kasi paglaro ka ng laro, mabuburyong ka. Kapag wala ka disiplina sa sarili mo, ‘di ka marunong magpigil, talagang matatalo ka," she answered when asked how to be a responsible gamer。
She also shared tips on how players can win games。
"Huwag silang sumugod, sa Tongits kasi meron mga bluffer diyan na laban lang ng laban. Kailangan mong basahin yung laro para magtagumpay sa laban."
Her tournament journey taught her how perseverance in gaming can translate into life. The way she was patient with her cards and only played them when she was sure was very important: don't rush in recklessly; understand your opponents' moves and make smart decisions。
Jarito knows she can't win every day; there will come a time when one has to learn to take losses and pause for a while, so one can play another day to win. She also serves as an inspiration to others, teaching her peers how to win the game。

Erlinda Jarito advocates responsible gaming to fellow players
Erlinda Jarito's story was not easy; it took courage and discipline to reach her level. She started playing the game back when physical cards were still used. She took that experience to another level, using her passion as a purpose, taking risks, while at the same time upholding the values of being a responsible gamer。
