The runway reignites at SM J Mall as the CYDC Fashion Show makes a grand comeback

　　SM J Mall hosted the highly anticipated return of the Cebu Young Designers Competition (CYDC) after 13  years. CYDC’s “The Finale” gathered Cebu’s most promising young designers, fashion enthusiasts, and  industry leaders for an evening of outstanding craftsmanship at The Atrium last March 22, 2025.  Organized by the Clothes for Life Foundation, the event showcased visionary designs that set a new  benchmark for Cebu’s fashion scene. 

　　Eight designers—Cris Escobido, Joshua Chiong, Johara Mina Mala Ara, King Rosales, Kheemberly Claire  Coronel, Steven Cyrus, Sarah Tutor, and John Ivan Galochino—brought fresh perspectives to the runway  with bold artistry and innovative craftsmanship. A panel of industry luminaries, including fashion designer  and master couturier Cary Santiago, photographer and Fuji brand ambassador Jan Gonzales, entrepreneur  and content creator Vern Enciso, Cebu’s premium fashion show director Direk Junjet Primor, and Love  and Diamonds creative director Hope Ty, provided their expert discernment. 

　　Emerging as the winner, Sarah Tutor impressed the judges with their exceptional design and creativity,  solidifying their place as a rising force in the fashion industry. 

　　Founded by the late Joy Bernaldez, the Clothes for Life Foundation has made a lasting impact both locally  and internationally. It mentors young designers and supports communities through livelihood programs,  cultural shows, and advocacy initiatives—including support for breast cancer awareness. CYDC has also  launched the careers of renowned designers such as Andre Chang, Lorymer Villareal, Lord Maturan, and  Pinky Magalona Ty. 

　　The success of CYDC’s return is driven by key industry partnerships dedicated to excellence and  innovation. Oro China Jewelry, a leading name in Philippine jewelry, served as a major producer, while SM  J Mall, as the official venue partner, provided a platform for emerging talent. The success of the event is  a testament to the support and contributions of these valued partners.
